EXCELLENT Based on 76 reviews Posted on Tripadvisor Nadine WVerified Unforgettable Safari experience We really enjoyed our 3 day camping Safari in Serengeti and Ngorongoro! Everything went very smooth and our guide Fidelis did everything for us to have an unforgettable time there. The accomodation at our campsides was okay, accept there was no hot water for a shower etc. on both campsides. But besides that we really enjoyed our time there and can only recommend doing it.Posted on Tripadvisor Lucas GVerified Was für ein Erlebnis Unsere 3-tägige Camping-Safari mit Tanzalux war einfach fantastisch! Posted on Tripadvisor Nadine WVerified Unforgettable experience inside Arusha My boyfriend and I had our city tour with John and Brian, who were both very friendly and commited to make our experience in Arusha unforgettable! We went to the local market, the African Art Gallery and many other interesting places that gave as a pretty good insight in Tanzanias local life. Overall I can recommend booking Tansalux Safari and especially those 2 men for a personal city tour, it’s definitely worth it!Posted on Tripadvisor Jon DVerified Falls Materuni Waterfalls is a super day out from Arusha. The trip was flexible and the guide during the falls was very well informed.Posted on Tripadvisor SQWDelawareVerified Wonderful day trip in the Arusha area We had a day at the end of our safari tours, so we contacted Ally. He is very responsive and flexible in terms of schedules and pick up/drop off. We had a wonderful time visiting the Materuni Fall, the Chemka Hot Spring as well as the coffee making in the Chaga village. The lunch was also very good with all the traditional Tanzanian food, something not readily available in a hotel or resort. Highly recommended! One thing you might want to pay attention is the type of car. Ours is a small van which is not an AWD. It got overheated on the way up the mountain and we had to be transferred to another car. Fortunately, it was done with very little down time.Posted on Tripadvisor Flor OVerified Excelente tour. Posted on Tripadvisor Lucas NVerified Happy with this trip and our guide prayer This was my first time visiting the park here in Tanzania and I thank God for meeting Tanzalux Safari! It was a safari that made me see animals I never thought I would see like lions, elephants, warthogs, and different kinds of birds. We had a professional guide, Mr. Prayer, who gave us excellent service. The food was very good, buffet style, and we traveled in a convoy of 3 vehicles. Overall, we really enjoyed and had a great time, and I will never leave Tanzalux because of the history and experience they gave us.Posted on Tripadvisor FRANCO GVerified Tarangire did its thing. The safari was very good, I liked many things because I prefer joining trips. I also congratulate Tanza Lux as their safaris are more luxury compared to other companies. The safari was super, I liked everything.Posted on Tripadvisor Tumain HVerified A Very Memorable Safari with Nasri Our tour guide Nasri was very friendly and welcoming from the first day we met him. He knows Tarangire very well and explained many things during the safari. We saw different animals and enjoyed the whole trip. It was really a good experience with him.
Safari Questions Answered
The ideal time is during the dry season from June to October, when animals congregate around water sources and shorter grass makes wildlife easier to spot. However, Tanzania offers excellent safari experiences year-round. The short rains in November-December are also great for visiting, with brief afternoon showers and fewer crowds.
Yes, most visitors require a visa. US citizens pay $100 for a multiple-entry visa, while other nationalities typically pay $50 for single-entry. You can obtain a visa on arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or apply online in advance through the eVisa system—we recommend applying beforehand to avoid airport delays.
Yellow Fever vaccination is required if you’re arriving from a country with ongoing transmission or have transited through such a country’s airport for over 12 hours. Malaria prevention medication is highly recommended for safari regions. Consult your doctor about Hepatitis A & B and Typhoid vaccines at least 6-8 weeks before departure.
Pack lightweight, neutral-colored clothing in layers with long sleeves and pants. Bring sturdy hiking boots, comfortable shoes, a hat, sunglasses, and high SPF sunscreen. Essential items include a camera with extra batteries, binoculars, swimwear, insect repellent, medications, and a light jacket for cool mornings. Most accommodations have laundry services, so pack light.
The official currency is the Tanzanian Shilling (TZS). US Dollars are widely accepted in tourist areas, but use Tanzanian Shillings for local transactions and tips. ATMs are available in major towns like Arusha. Notify your bank of your travel dates to avoid card blocks. Carry a mix of cash and cards for flexibility.
