Honeymoon Safaris in Tanzania
A fully private safari, built around the two of you — romantic touches arranged, with a Zanzibar beach extension if you'd like one.
A private safari, built around the two of you
A honeymoon safari is a private safari, first — your own vehicle, guide and pace, with no one else's itinerary to share. From there it's built entirely around the two of you: the parks you want to see, the romantic touches you'd like arranged, and whether you finish on safari or on a beach in Zanzibar. We don't sell a fixed "honeymoon package" — every one we plan is a private safari shaped around a specific couple's dates, budget and interests, by a local, Arusha-based team.
Romantic touches
A private bush dinner
A table for two set out under the stars, away from the rest of camp.
Sundowners
Drinks at a scenic spot as the sun goes down over the plains.
Private guided game drives
Your own vehicle and guide throughout — no one else's schedule to work around.
Stargazing
Some of the darkest skies you'll ever see, far from any city light.
A balloon safari
A sunrise flight over the Serengeti can be arranged for you as part of the itinerary.
Safari & beach
The safari
Days in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater — private game drives, the Big Five, and the romantic touches you'd like arranged along the way.
The beach
Finish in Zanzibar — white sand, warm water and a slower pace to close out the trip.

Parks for a honeymoon safari
A private itinerary can cover any mix of these parks, at your own pace. Read the full parks guide ↗
Ngorongoro Crater
A natural wonder like no other.
The world's largest inactive, unbroken volcanic caldera — a natural amphitheater packed with wildlife, including one of Tanzania's last populations of black rhino. Most itineraries spend one night on the crater rim and a morning descending to the floor.

Serengeti National Park
Endless plains, endless wonder.
Tanzania's oldest and most famous park — endless golden plains stretching to the horizon, home to the Great Migration and some of the highest lion densities in Africa. Two to four days here is typical, long enough to reach the central Seronera region and, in season, follow the wildebeest herds.

Tarangire National Park
Where giants roam and baobabs stand tall.
Known for its ancient baobab trees and some of the largest elephant herds in Tanzania, concentrated along the Tarangire River in the dry season. A quieter, less-visited alternative to the Serengeti, often paired with Ngorongoro on shorter itineraries.

Best time for a honeymoon safari
Since there's no fixed departure to catch, you can time your trip around any of these seasons.

Peak season
June – OctoberThe long dry season. Animals gather around permanent water and grass is short, making game viewing at its easiest — also when the northern Serengeti river crossings usually happen.

Shoulder season
November – December, MarchThe short rains bring green landscapes and thinner crowds. Showers are usually brief afternoon storms rather than all-day rain, and parks stay accessible.

Low season / calving
January – February, April – MayJanuary–February is calving season in the southern Serengeti — dramatic predator action. April–May is the long rains, quietest and cheapest, with some camps closing in the wettest areas.

Read moreFrequently asked questions
Is there a fixed honeymoon package?
No — every honeymoon trip is a private safari built from scratch around your dates, budget and interests. Tell us what you have in mind and we'll shape the itinerary around it.
How private is it, really?
Fully private — your own vehicle and driver-guide for the whole trip, never shared with another party, the same as any of our private safari tours.
See private safari toursCan a balloon safari be arranged?
Yes — a sunrise balloon flight over the Serengeti can be added to your itinerary. It's operated by a specialist balloon company, and we handle the booking as part of your trip.
When is the best time for a honeymoon safari?
June to October (the dry season) is prime wildlife viewing with easy weather; January–February is calving season and quieter. Either works well for a honeymoon — tell us your dates and we'll help you decide.
Can we combine the safari with Zanzibar?
Yes — safari followed by a few days on the beach in Zanzibar is the classic honeymoon pairing, and we plan both halves as one trip.
Explore ZanzibarDoes a honeymoon safari cost more than a standard private safari?
Not inherently — the price depends on duration, accommodation level and any romantic add-ons (like a balloon safari) you choose, the same as any private trip.
How far in advance should we book?
We recommend at least 3–6 months ahead, more if you're travelling in peak season (July–October) or want a specific lodge or camp.
Ready to plan your honeymoon safari?
Tell us your dates and what you have in mind and we'll build the itinerary — no obligation.
