Day 1: Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa – Lemosho Rainforest Day Hike

Your Mount Kilimanjaro day hike begins with a morning transfer from your hotel in Moshi or Arusha to Londorossi Gate, the western entrance to Kilimanjaro National Park and the starting point of the Lemosho Route. After completing the required park registration and meeting your professional mountain guide, you begin hiking into the lush montane rainforest of western Kilimanjaro. The trail follows a peaceful forest environment with tall trees, dense vegetation and changing mountain scenery. Your guide will set a comfortable pace and allow regular breaks for water, rest and photography while sharing information about the mountain environment and the Lemosho Route. The hike continues towards Mti Mkubwa Camp at approximately 2,750 metres above sea level. This section provides an opportunity to experience the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro without committing to a multi-day summit climb. After reaching Mti Mkubwa, take time to enjoy the surrounding rainforest and have your picnic lunch before beginning the return hike. You then retrace the trail through the forest towards Londorossi Gate. After completing the required park exit procedures, your vehicle will be ready for the return transfer to Moshi or your next agreed destination. This Lemosho day hike offers a genuine introduction to Mount Kilimanjaro, combining rainforest scenery, mountain landscapes and a guided hiking experience in one day.

International flights
Flights to and from Tanzania are not included — we can recommend routes and airlines on request.
Travel insurance
