Lake Manyara National Park is a picturesque wildlife haven in northern Tanzania, celebrated for its lush forests, open savannahs, and expansive alkaline lake. The park boasts diverse ecosystems, ranging from dense groundwater forests and grassy floodplains to acacia woodlands and the striking Great Rift Valley Escarpment. It is home to a rich variety of wildlife, including tree-climbing lions, large elephant herds, giraffes, hippos, and zebras, along with over 400 bird species, such as flamingos, pelicans, and storks. With its breathtaking scenery, abundant wildlife, and unique landscapes, Lake Manyara offers an unforgettable safari experience.
Tarangire National Park is located in northern Tanzania, about 118 km (73 miles) southwest of Arusha. It lies between Lake Manyara National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater. The park covers approximately 2,850 square kilometers (1,100 square miles) and is famous for its elephant herds and the Tarangire River, which serves as a crucial water source for wildlife, especially during the dry season.
The best time to visit Tarangire National Park is during the dry season (June to October). During this period, wildlife gathers around the Tarangire River, making it easier to spot elephants, big cats, and other animals. The park’s landscapes are also less dense, allowing for better visibility and game viewing.
For birdwatching and a greener environment, the wet season (November to May) is ideal, but some areas may be harder to access due to rainfall.
